Located just a few kilometres from the Portuguese capital, the Oeste region is home to some of the country’s most emblematic vineyards. The Western Wine Route is made up of three large stretches, each with its own identity and charm.

Stretches and Map - Western Wine Route - First Stretch
The first section of the Route begins in Arruda dos Vinhos. As its name suggests, this town has wine at the heart of its identity. Its vineyards are located in what is known as the Vale Encantado, making it one of the most beautiful and traditional producers in the region.
Moving on, we come to Sobral de Monte Agraço, a small village that preserves the tradition of high-quality wine production, offering a cosy and authentic atmosphere for visitors.
The stretch ends in Torres Vedras, a land of extensive vineyards and a priceless wine legacy. With a long tradition of wine production, this region stands out for the authenticity of its wineries and the warm hospitality of the local producers, making it an unmissable destination for wine lovers.

Second section
The second section of the Route takes us to one of Portugal’s most renowned wine territories: Alenquer. With vineyards stretching over hills and moulding a picturesque landscape, this area is synonymous with high-quality wines.
Along the way, the parishes of Abrigada and Merceana stand out, recognised for producing full-bodied wines with great longevity, as well as the parish of Meca, a perfect destination for those wishing to immerse themselves in wine culture and experience unforgettable tastings.

Third section
On the third and final stretch of the Route, the combination of history, culture and wine reaches its peak.
The regions of Bombarral and Cadaval are known for growing noble grapes and producing some of the best wines in Portugal.
In Óbidos, in addition to the famous Ginjinha, we find some of the region’s most charming wineries, where tradition and innovation meet to create surprising labels.
To end this journey on a high note, we arrived in Caldas da Rainha. Best known for its thermal baths and handicrafts, the city is also home to wineries that are well worth a visit, providing a complete experience for lovers of wine tourism.
The Rota Oeste dos Vinhos de Lisboa is much more than a simple wine tour: it’s an immersion in the culture, tradition and flavours that make this region a true paradise for wine lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or just curious about new discoveries, this route offers unique experiences ranging from breathtaking landscapes and memorable tastings to close contact with the producers who make wine their passion and legacy.
