Lisbon, a glass of wine, and a completely different perspective

There are many ways to discover Lisbon. We can wander through Alfama on foot, climb up to the viewpoints, cross the city by tram, or simply sit at an outdoor café and watch the world go by.

But there is another side of Lisbon that we only truly appreciate when we step away from it.

And that is exactly what we set out to discover.

This time, we swapped the vineyards and wineries we usually visit for a boat tour in Lisbon, with a combination that could hardly be more aligned with Lisbon Wine Routes: the Tejo River, sunset and Portuguese wine.

The experience began at Doca de Santo Amaro, practically beneath the 25 de Abril Bridge. Within minutes, we were aboard a catamaran, moving away from the riverbank and discovering a completely different perspective on places we had already seen countless times.

And perhaps this is the first surprise of the experience: Lisbon changes when seen from the Tejo.

Boat tour in Lisbon: why is it worth seeing the city from the Tejo?

For those who live in Lisbon, it is easy to get used to the landscape. The 25 de Abril Bridge, the Cristo Rei statue, Belém, and the Monument to the Discoveries end up becoming part of the everyday scenery.
From the river, however, the proportions change.
As we leave Doca de Santo Amaro, the 25 de Abril Bridge passes literally right above us. On the opposite bank, the Cristo Rei appears, and as the catamaran heads along the Tagus, the boat tour in Lisbon begins to reveal its riverfront.
It was precisely this change of perspective that we enjoyed the most.
The route of the Sardinha do Tejo tour allows you to observe places like the 25 de Abril Bridge, Cristo Rei, MAAT, the Monument to the Discoveries, the Belém Tower, and Terreiro do Paço from the river, depending naturally on the itinerary and navigation conditions.
